What is a Logarithmic and Exponential Function?

A logarithmic function is the inverse of an exponential function,

and the form for that is and  is called the exponential form.

How to understand the form?

The “log” part of the function is simply three letters that denote the fact that we are dealing with a logarithm. B is subscripted on the “log” part to tell us what the base is as this is an essential piece of information.

Tips:

Keep the notation with logarithms straight

You can’t take the logarithm of zero or a negative number

The “log,” “b,” and “x” are not variables aren’t signifying multiplication
