please wear a mask

August 10, 2020

During this difficult time, all we’ve been seeing is people wearing masks to protect themselves from COVID-19. However, that isn’t the only mask you could wear on a daily basis. With life slowly returning to normal, a little self-care for yourself wouldn’t hurt. Read this blog to learn how to make one of my favorite face masks that can be used on all skin types.

In 2013, Black Lives Matter was founded as an activist movement advocating for anti-racism after the devastating murder of Trayvon Martin. Since then, the media has displayed numerous cases of police brutality on African Americans. It has been 6 years since the founding of this movement and America has not changed its system. Now, in 2020, it is clear that police funding is more important than investing in American education, healthcare, and employment. This blog is my reaction, as a black woman, to the protests that have now escalated to global attention.

College years are some of the most transformative years of one’s life. The amount of change that you experience in college seems to be at an accelerated pace. This has definitely been the case for me. However, I think one of the most important lessons that I’ve learned since my matriculation has been learning how to prioritize my self-care and mental health.

When and how did I react when I found out my college was closing down because of COVID-19?
In this post, I shed some light on social distancing. I, like most people, was unhappy about going back home from college, work, and other occupations because they were places of security and peaceful solitude. However, in the midst of quarantining, I have found healthy and productive ways to spend my time. These personal activities bring me great pleasure and I hope that you can read this and steal some of mine, or feel inspired to establish your own.
